A private studio facility ideal for quality multitrack recording, mixing and mastering of all bands and artists.

Studio Specs

The studio complex at MCA consist of a live studio space with two additional vocal/isolation booths, making it an ideal facility for live tracking of instruments and bands.
The control room houses a fully automated 32 fader control surface, an attractive and efficient work surface, allowing the artist to be engaged in the entire recording process.

Control Room

The control room makes use of modern automation with a dedicated ProTools control surface, plus quality outboard mic preamplifiers and processing.
Instant recall of any project gives the artist the feedom to make critical decisions on their work with zero downtime.

Live Room

The live studio is a great sounding creative space, also housing two additional isolation booths for vocal or instrument separation.
Our dedicated 16 channel individual headphone monitoring system puts you in control of what you want to hear.

Digital : Avid/Digidesign ProTools HD 10 Software, Procontrol.

Analog : Ampex, Studer/Revox.

Monitoring: Altec Lansing, JBL, Yamaha, Perreaux Amplification throughout.

MCA is owned and operated by Jason Backhouse who has completed work for a range of established artists, including Annie Crummer, Blindspott, Hammond Gamble, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, etc. Recent work includes the Headcasey project, featuring Tracy G from USA metal gods Dio (Guitar 1993-1999)
The studio at MCA has been home base for many NZ bands over the past decade. Extreme Metal band Ulcerate have tracked their own studio albums at MCA going on almost 8 years and continue to use the facility weekly.

Weekend Tracking Rate Special!

Track your band in our quality studio space across an entire 18-20 hour weekend. Setup Friday night (2hrs). Tracking Saturday & Sunday (16hrs total). Total cost $1200 + GST. Contact us now to discuss your requirements.

Rates & Booking

Basic studio rate is $120/hr + GST. Minimum charge for band recording (with drums etc) is $240 + GST. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your recording project. Because we are a privately owned studio with a vested interest in talented artists, we often offer great discounts on a project dependent basis.
